Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP)
Youth empowerment
Edzes Kenya Limited signed a contract with the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) in November 2018. This is a project of the Government of Kenya, in partnership with the World Bank, which runs from 2016 to 2021 through the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs (MPYG), The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives (MITC) with an objective of increasing employment and earning opportunities among targeted youths.
The main beneficiaries of the project will be youth between 18 and 29 years of age, who are without jobs and have experienced extended spells of unemployment or who are currently working in vulnerable jobs.
In this project, Edzes Kenya Limited will work with the MPYG and NITA to address the lack of relevant work experience and competencies including behavioral skills needed for employment by offering training and work experience to a portion of the 70,000 targeted youth. Edzes Kenya Limited has so far trained over 200 youth on catering. The same number completed industrial internship and sat for the NITA trade proficiency tests.
In 2020, Edzes Kenya limited will train youth in 13 counties (Nyandarua, Machakos, Nakuru, Nairobi, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Mandera, Wajir, Kisumu, Kisii, Bungoma and Kakamega). Read more about KYEOP
